Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you media blast more than just cars?
A: Yes! Cars are our primary business, but we also media blast other items. (horse trailers, ski lifts, chairs.)
Q: What's the best way to bring you my body shell / parts?
A: Completely disassembled! The more metal surfaces we have access to, the more complete of a job we can do.
Q: Do I need to prep my parts before bringing them to you?
A: Media does not like grease and grime. Pressure washing your parts/panels before bringing them in will save us time (and you money) and will also help prevent contaminating our media.
Q: Will you disassemble my car/parts, do body work, or offer painting/priming services?
A: No we do not. We strictly do media blasting.
Q: What do you blast with?
A: For vehicle bodies and body panels done in our blasting booth, we primarily use crushed glass media. We have found that using our combination of medium crushed glass, set at a low blast PSI and small tip size, that we can safely strip panels and leave you with an excellent profile for primer. This includes our ability to SAFELY strip undercoating from your inner fenders, inner quarters, and the complete underside!
Q: Can you blast "soft" surfaces?
A: Yes! We can blast aluminum, plastic and fiberglass (and we have even done some hardwoods)! Give us a call to discuss your needs.
Q: Do you blast with soda?
A: We choose not to blast with soda. There are several reasons for this, but one of the main reasons is that soda will leave behind a residue that must be treated before painting and even then there can be contamination issues. We believe that other media types are superior.
Q: What's the best way for me to get a quote for my car, parts, or item that I need blasted?
A: Feel free to stop by and show us what you have, email (www.classiccarblasting@aol.com), facebook message, or call 603-489-2442
Q: Will you damage my parts or warp my body panels?
A: NO! We use crushed glass media and adjust the air flow / tip size according to your parts/panels. Crushed glass WILL NOT REMOVE METAL.
Q: Do you offer pick up and delivery service?
A: We do not, but we work with flatbed (rollback) companies that make transport very easy.
Q: How long will you have my car?
A: We try and schedule your drop-off so that we do not have parts or bodies for longer than 10 business days. If you give us a "deadline" when you drop-off, we will meet it. We will also try to align with any body shop schedules that you may have for getting your car in primer right after we blast it. We turn almost all projects around within 2 weeks.
Q: Do you do powder coating?
A: No, but we have a great powdercoater right next door if you need one (http://www.profinishinginc.com/).
Q: Do I need to paint or prime my car/parts right away?
A: An exposed body shell can actually start "flash" rusting after about 3 days (depending upon humidity and season), so careful planning is important. The long and flat horizontal panels of a body (roof, hood, etc.) are especially prone to "flash" first. We can work with you and your body shop to ensure it goes from us to them within a few days. We offer a zinc phosphate application which will protect your parts/panels from flash rusting for weeks to months. Just ask us about this service.
Q: Will you blast the part numbers off of my parts?
A: No, many of our customers are building numbers matching cars and we know the importance of these markings.
Q: Do you offer painting or priming services?
A: No we do not, but we work with several painters and can make a recommendation for you.
Q: Can I stop by and see your shop before deciding?
A: Absolutely! Feel free to stop by and we will show you around and show you samples of our work. We spend a lot of time talking with people about their projects and we truly enjoy it!
